Should I Attend?

BMI, WACUBO’s higher education management institute is designed to deliver the administrative skills and management concepts needed by individuals who are in the business of higher education.  The multi-track institute has curriculum applicable across professional career levels within college and university business management.

Tracks 1 and 2 are designed for high-potential individuals in the earlier stages of their career.  Tracks 3 and 4 are focused on advanced studies for those who are seeking to increase their knowledge of working across the whole university system.

No matter what track you enter at BMI, you will benefit from a variety of learning formats including lecture, experiential case studies, panel dialogue, and small group workshops delivered by thought leaders and experienced professionals in the field of higher education.

What Will I Learn?

Your learning experience at BMI will be geared toward your career stage.

If you are in the early stages of your higher education career, the curriculum in Tracks 1 & 2 include career building courses specific to college and university business management.  The curriculum will also offer an overview of broader spectrum topics such as auxiliary services and student life.  This cross section of learning is designed to build greater understanding about working in higher education institutions and develop the foundation for new opportunities and responsibilities in the workplace.  Courses in these two tracks will build critical skills for your current position, but also challenge you to think beyond your immediate position and skill set and give you a sense of your place within the whole university system.

If you are a more seasoned professional, the curriculum in Tracks 3 & 4 include advanced courses in strategy planning and budgeting needed to deal with institutional change, decision-making relationships across multiple constituencies of an institution, shared governance, and new approaches for ensuring business continuity.  Courses are delivered primarily through case studies, scenario exercises, and lecture/dialogue with higher-education thought leaders and experts.  Courses will build on your current management experience, develop a greater understanding of your opportunity to contribute expertise across your institution, and build your capacity for leadership on the campus.

When & Where?
